According to a recent survey, 6 in 10 people do not know home automation, there are still many people who have not yet had the fortune of pressing a push button on a touch panel at home, despite a technological world where mobile phones, tablet, computers and the Internet have become everyday objects and resources.

Home automation will be the main topic also for what concerns its social value together with the engineering for lighting control. The world of lighting and that of building automation are evolving towards the integration of different technologies, the goal is to satisfy the growing interest in lighting control systems and automation in order to get also a good energy saving.

These are some of the children’s questions of three classes of the primary school “Giusti” that have visited the pugliese company Foel SpA on march the 22nd and that have begun to know concepts such as lighting and home automation, thanks to the project of the Committee Taranto lider titled “Citizens of the future. The cultural conversion starts in the classroom “.

The fundamental idea of the project is to develop a spirit of enterprise from the early childhood, processes and curiosity about new activities, new professional settings.

The eyes of the children are enchanted by the lights and they are eager to listen, to observe, and their curiosity grows, discovering what is a dark room, the colour of a light source, the changing colour of a lamp.
They hear the word “domotica”, some of them for the first time, home automation, a word composed of “domus” = house and “computer”, an “automatic house”.

They find that it is possible to make a house safe also for the small children, they discover the existence of the so called “home automation systems”, that can control all the systems and devices in a modern house or building.

Comfort, safety and energy saving are the keywords.
The children become aware of the possibility of controlling the lighting devices, to adjust the air conditioning of a room, automatically and in a personalized way and many other situations.

A didactic visit that gives children the chance to keep alive their natural curiosity, to imagine a different professional future. An educational tour that also focuses on new technologies, on their social and economic value, on the creation of a greater awareness of the evolution of the world, opening new realities in which it is possible to develop new skills and satisfy everyone’s needs.

The future is here .. in the classroom.
